Soft. But tight in an adult head.

This head band is very beautiful, very soft and pretty. I was so excited to get as I always looking for something to hold my hair back when washing my face & etc I bought one for myself & gift for my daughter-in-law. I have a very very small head and this headband is really REALLY tight. I am wondering if I might have gotten one that maybe was made wrong? It almost springs off my head trying to get it on? I am hoping it fits my daughter-in-law with a let's say normal size head. I am so small I have to get my eye glasses in the childrens section.
