It's a great design and always comes out beautiful on the cutting boards; However, the boards aren't sealed, they feel like raw pine or raw wood, There is not protective coating or waterproofing on them at all, so unless you buy a wax wood varnish to add to the board and let it cure before gifting it, the recipient would not be able to use it without damaging it and would need to keep it for display only.
