Fantastic features, useful and classy, not made to withstand rough scenarios
I purchased this item as a gift for my boyfriend over a year and a half ago, as a form of random/celebratory gift after a few months into our relationship. I engraved one side with his name and the Japanese kanji for "I love you", in one of the text styles recommended for male recipients. It was classy, modern, useful, and elegant all rolled into one. And, if he and I weren't to work out, he could continue to use the item since my name wasn't on it and the "I love you" isn't in English (assuming his future partner didn't read Japanese, this would work).
The design is sleek and easy to handle, the colors are perfect for those looking for something that could go with anything and look smart while doing so. All of the extensions came in handy within the first month, whether for their intended purposes or for similar purposes, and my boyfriend absolutely loved it. Dating an African-American male (highest incident of homicide) working in a gas station (not the safest atmosphere), who walked home close to midnight, at the edge of town, and had no flashlight or potential self-defense besides training in Karate from when he was younger could be a bit disconcerting, so it was nice to know he at least had something that could make the walk easier and safer over-all.
My only complaint is that the black prongs on the inside that make it so the front casing stays on and the flashlight can continue to function aren't sturdy enough to handle being dropped a few times, or at least they weren't in this scenario. Because he was walking home in the dark, not all the pieces could be retrieved, either. So the flashlight was rendered useless. And while a free etching with the purchase of a new flashlight is a decent deal, it's still irksome that the full price of the flashlight has to be paid as well.
Overall I would recommend this to all looking for a classy gift for those they care about.

A Perfect Man Gift
My step-father is a very hands on kind of guy, so I though this was the perfect gift for the holidays. I was actually surprised as to the quality of the product. It looks very lovely! The tools that come out the side are rather small though, so that might prove difficult for some who has vision problems. All in all, a great gift for that male in your life.
