nice looking but $ to engrave and plate falls out
I've provided this as a farewell gift a few times now for an office member. But -- was really disappointed in a couple of items:
a. with a relatively short statement to engrave, was disappointed in the high engraving charges; so reduced wording to as few as possible and it looked goofy and still cost a lot
b. the few lines engraved were stacked on top of each other in the middle of plate -- no attempt by engraver to perhaps spread them apart to give a better visual appearance
c. the engraving plate fell out during presentation -- why isn't it glued or double-sided taped?
d. during pricing, salesclerk "assumed" i'd use a more expensive font rather than standard -- felt like real sales pitch
all in all -- disappointed with experience. might buy in the future, but bring to another engraver and tape the plate myself.

Looks elegant
The mahogany color really has a rich look with the gold finishes. This was a great gift for our best man in our wedding. Good quality for the price.

Had to Glue the Engraved Plates
We recently ordered about a dozen engraved book clocks for business gifts. They look terrific, but when we took them out of the boxes at the office, all of the engraved plates fell out. We had to glue every one fo the plates back in. These are not inexpensive gifts, and we didn't expect to have the time and labor of re-gluing all of them! I can't recommend them simply because many work places don't have the staff or materials to glue these plates.

This product has just what I need but...
once you get inspired to write a wonderful message on the large plate presented, you are faced with the huge price at the end. It is rather deflating to take the message down to a few lines to not break the bank. Very misleading.

Memorable gift with excellent time movement.
I received this clock as a gift for being an active member of our Employee Safety Committee. The clock is visually outstanding and the engraved side plate really sets it off. My only concern is the short battery life. I received the clock in November and am having to replace the battery in July of the following year. Otherwise, an outstanding product.
